A Dotty Birthday Present is a story from the 1985 Annual.
Plot[]
Nonsenseland is probably the most extraordinary place to ever travel to. It's a place where the grass is blue, the chickens meow, and worms wear a bowtie and hat. Nowhere else in the world would you find something so bizarre. Even the schools in Nonsenseland were unbelievable. Instead of learning math, science, or writing like you or I do, teachers play all day long and draw silly faces on the blackboard. Even the pens write backwards! Meaning, if you want to write a story using a Nonsenseland pen, you have to start at the end and finish at the beginning! Mr. Silly did this one and got full marks for the story he wrote: ten out of nine!
One Monday morning, Mr. Silly went to the Whoopee Woods to see Little Miss Dotty. Little Miss Dotty welcomed Mr. Silly inside and gave him a cup of cornflakes. Not a bowl of cornflakes, but a cup. Mr. Silly then told Little Miss Dotty a problem he had. Mr. Nonsense's birthday was that upcoming Saturday but Mr. Silly doesn't know what silly birthday gift to give him. Mr. Nonsense seemed to have everything silly Little Miss Dotty and Mr. Silly could think of. From an odd pair of shoes to a clock that won't tell time. It took Little Miss Dotty almost the entire week to figure out a dotty birthday gift idea.
On Friday, Little Miss Dotty finally came up with a dotty present for Mr. Nonsense and told Mr. Silly. The next day, they went to Mr. Nonsense's house and gave Mr. Nonsense his present. Do you know what it was? A bicycle bell without the bicycle! How dotty! But perfectly silly!
