The Daily Mirror is a British national daily tabloid newspaper. It was founded on 2 November 1903.
History[]
Founded in 1903, it is owned by parent company Reach plc. From 1985 to 1987, and from 1997 to 2002, the title on its masthead was simply The Mirror. It had an average daily print circulation of 716,923 in December 2016, dropping to 587,803 the following year.
Involvement with Mr. Men[]
During the late 1970s, Daily Mirror published Mr. Men comics. In 1978, Daily Mirror released two comic strip compilation books featuring the comics. Unfortunately, when the comics were first published as well as the range of dates featured in each collection remain unknown. Several of these comics would later be featured as cartoons in Mr. Men Little Miss Mini Cinema.
From 1983 to 1988, it published Mr. Men & Little Miss 1980's Comics written and illustrated by Roger Hargreaves and Paul Sellers.
In 2001, the Daily Mirror held the "Make your own Mr. Men character" contest. The contest was won by Gemma Almond for her character, "Mr. Cheeky."
