Mr. Men Wiki

Flying is the eleventh episode (first part of the sixth episode) of Season 1 of The Mr. Men Show.

Synopsis[]

Mr. Tickle and Mr. Quiet take an unforgettable helicopter ride; Little Miss Calamity strives to control a runaway hot air balloon; and Mr. Stubborn insists he knows how to fly a plane.

Plots[]

  • Mr. Nervous' Plot: Mr. Nervous imagines that he's an astronaut in a rocket and gets stuck in space. It's really shown that he's holding on a 2 minute ride that looks like a rocket.
  • Mr. Grumpy's Plot: Mr. Grumpy is a flight attendant but gets bugged with Mr. Rude repeatedly pressing the buzzer, Mr. Persnickety asking for a new pillow that's clean, and Mr. Bounce bouncing all over the place. In the end, Mr. Grumpy gives Mr. Persnickety a new pillow, Mr. Bounce.
  • Mr. Quiet, Mr. Tickle and Miss Whoops' Plot: Mr. Tickle and Mr. Quiet go for a crazy ride in Miss Whoops' helicopter.
  • Miss Calamity's Plot: Miss Calamity goes on a balloon trip to get her bonnet back with a ride with pigs, a train, a fishing rod and mud.
  • Mr. Stubborn and Mr. Quiet's Plot: Mr. Stubborn takes Mr. Quiet on a crazy plane ride.
  • Mr. Bump and Miss Helpful's Plot: Mr. Bump goes skydiving. Miss Helpful accidentally forgets to tie his parachute on. Mr. Bump hits a plane and then hits the ground like a rock. (deleted in the UK, but was viewable on the website)

Bumpers[]

Mr. Nosey and Mr. Small try to fly.

  1. They try to get off the ground on a Wright Brothers-style plane. When it does though, the bit that Mr. Nosey is sitting on breaks off, leaving him behind!
  2. They fly a different, odd-looking plane but no sooner are they in the air than Miss Daredevil burns it to cinders!
  3. They fly their usual flying machine that they're often seen with, but go through Mr. Fussy's balloon and both crash land!
  4. They use the first plane again, this time with jet engines added. But no sooner are they in the air than the bits that both Mr. Nosey and Mr. Small are sitting on break off and they fall to the ground!

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Grumpy revealed he worked for the airline industry for 30 years. The show's debut in 2008 came out as a milestone for some of the Mr. Men that was published in 1978. Mr. Grumpy's age is questionable, given the legal age for flight attendants is at least 18 years old. [1]
  • Despite the segment being cut in the UK version, Mr. Bump and Miss Helpful's plot was given a UK dub and was made available online on the official website. This segment is now currently available on DVD.
  • A map of Dillydale was probably shown multiple times, and there were two cities on the map.
  • Like with Physical and Farm, Mr. Bump's voice in the US version sounds different from his later appearances. This means that it was one of the first episodes to be produced.
    • As a matter of fact, this was the first episode in production order, according to the Mr. Men YouTube channel.
  • The UK version from the official channel shows a thumbnail from Airports.
  • Mr. Bump falling without a parachute might possibly be a reference to the Mr. Men and Little Miss episode, "Mr. Clever's Daft Bet".

Goofs[]

  • Miss Sunshine's hair braids phase through her seat.
  • Mr. Rude and Miss Chatterbox vanish when Mr. Persnickety is talking to Mr. Grumpy.
  • The shadows on the seats become darker in the next second before.
  • Mr. Grumpy seems to be farther away after talking to Mr. Rude the second time, as he's that close.
  • The balloon basket is bigger in the inside than it's depicted.
  • Despite Miss Calamity puncturing the balloon, it was never seen deflated.
  • It's unknown where the pig came from, as one was never seen with Miss Calamity after passing the farm.
  • When Mr. Rude wakes up Mr. Nervous from his daydream, in the UK version, "Come on, Mr. Nervous." is muted.

Dub edits[]

  • Mr. Rude tells Miss Scary that Mr. Nervous is a chicken that doesn't cluck, but his voice is different in the UK than in the US, an example would be "He*'s* such a chicken." rather than "He *is* such a chicken!"
  • Mr. Tickle says "Count five along from the blue one!" instead of "Count five along from over there!".
  • In the dance video, Mr. Stubborn just says "Dance!"
  • Mr. Bump stutters before saying "Uh, we're awfully high up, Miss Helpful."
  • Mr. Bump does not stutter when he says "Is my harness buckled on?"
  • Mr. Bump says "Here I go then!" instead of "Here goes nothing!" Also, he says, "Geronimo!" instead of saying nothing at all.
  • After Mr. Bump hits the plane, he says "Can't hold on!", and then he screams before hitting the plane's tail.
  • Mr. Bump screams before hitting the ground, instead of saying nothing at all.
  • At the end, Mr. Bump says, "You live and learn!" instead of "You'll never learn!"
