Overview[]
Little Miss Loud Has Breath (Madame Tintamarre a du souffle in French) is a story in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was released in April 1999, and then re-released in 2000, as well as being one of the many stories which appear in Colours and Sounds on the 1st of January 2001.
Plot[]
Little Miss Loud lives in Bruitagne, a country where everyone is noisy. Birds sing very loudly. Flies don't say "buzz buzz" but "BUZZ, BZZZ!" Even carp make noise when they swim. So Little Miss Loud has learned to shout into a megaphone to make herself heard. This morning she was vacuuming. She loves to make noise, but she can't help but make noise, so she put the megaphone in front of her, with the stereo turned up to full volume and listening to music. Then the doorbell rang. You're probably wondering how she can hear the doorbell. The reason is simple: her doorbell is a real siren that can be heard up to two miles away. Even if she's out shopping, she knows when someone rings the doorbell at her house. So she heard the bell ring, so she shouted into the megaphone, "I'm on my way." Miss Loud stopped the vacuum cleaner, picked up the megaphone, and finally tried to open the door. Mr. Happy was there, and Miss Loud shouted out, "HELLO, MR. HAPPY!" Mr. Happy also greeted Miss Loud, though he was calm. Mr. Happy was looking for someone to help him sell balloons in the village square. Little Miss Loud replied that she would be happy to accompany him. When they reached the square, Miss Loud held up a bunch of balloons in her hands and shouted into a megaphone. "COME CLOSER, COME CLOSER! BUY MY BEAUTIFUL ROUND BALLOONS!" Mr. Happy held his hand in front of the megaphone and said, "No, no! Miss Loud, I need someone... to blow up my balloons." And thus, Miss Loud blew up balloons all day! Small ones, big ones, green ones, red ones, round ones, square ones... and by evening she was so out of breath and could not speak a single word! Guess who asked her to dinner first? Mr. Quiet! They both ate without saying a word! All you can hear is the "BZZZ, BZZZ!!" of flies. So, shhh! If you want to scream, blow up a balloon!

Trivia[]
- This is a rare time that Little Miss Loud had became speechless after feeling so out of breath and couldn't even say a single word. And what's more is that Mr. Quiet had interacted with her despite he dislikes anything noisy and loud in general as Mr. Happy had put his hands in front of his ears while Miss Loud was blowing up a lot of balloons in a pit of inflated balloons done by her. The same thing also happens on his birthday.
- Despite being the main character in this story, Little Miss Loud is the only female character present in this.
- This story also appears on one of the series' last book releases in January 2001, Colours and Sounds (Les couleurs et les sons in French).
- As the series was only released in France, the story contains a more sexual element compared to other titles in previous issues. Little Miss Loud is revealed to have an obsession with balloons (which is informally known as "Looners") and, as can be seen in the illustration, she enjoys taking the pleasure of blowing them up of several colours, making it a story that is not suitable for children. However, Hachette has now banned such stories, as they consider such themes to be far too inappropriate for books aimed at younger audiences.
