Mr. Bump and the Birthday Party is a story from the 1981 Annual.
Plot[]
Everyone knows that Mr. Bump always has little accidents no matter how hard he tries. Is there is something to bump into, Mr. Bump will bump into it. This is the story about the time he was on his way to Mr. Fussy's birthday party. Mr. Fussy is not only about fussy with how things should be placed, he is also fussy about people being late. Mr. Bump, not wanting to upset Mr. Fussy on his birthday, decided to take a short cut through the woods to get to Mr. Fussy's house on time.
As he went through the woods, Mr. Bump, who wasn't looking where he was going, bumped into a tree that some woodcutters were sawing through. The tree fell down with a loud crash! The woodcutters thanked Mr. Bump for saving them the hassle of sawing through the rest of the tree and Mr. Bump hurried on his way. Mr. Bump reached town and hurried down a busy street. People were everywhere and Mr. Bump managed to avoid bumping into anyone. But as Mr. Bump turned around the corner, he tripped over a dog that was running down the road. Both of them landed on the pavement in a heap. Once again, Mr. Bump's bad luck proved to be good luck as the lady who owned the dog thanked Mr. Bump for helping her catch her puppy.
Mr. Bump finally arrived at Mr. Fussy's house but was a bit late for the party. Fortunately, Mr. Fussy wasn't really crossed and was just happy Mr. Bump could make it. He had arrived just in time for the first game...musical bumps! No doubt Mr. Bump will do well with that game!
