Mr. Dizzy and the Wishing Well is a story from the 1982 Annual.
Plot[]
Mr. Dizzy lived in a country called Cleverland. Cleverland was a place where everyone was clever! Worms wore watches and told the time and chickens ride bicycles and go to school. Unlike the rest of Cleverland, Mr. Dizzy wasn't very clever. For instance, if you ask Mr. Clever what the color of a blue balloon is, he'd probably say pink. Which isn't very clever, is it?
One day, Mr. Dizzy was walking along a path when he net a pig playing the piano. Mr. Dizzy asked the pig what he was doing and the pig said, "I am playing the piano." Mr. Dizzy thought a piano was for playing draughts before the Clever Pig rudely corrected him. Mr. Dizzy wanted to know how to play the piano but still believed it was a game he never heard of. Later, Mr. Dizzy met a Clever Elephant playing a trumpet. Mr. Dizzy asked the Clever Elephant what he was doing with the elephant stating that he was blowing his own trumpet; which is a joke as an elephant usually blows their trunk as well as going around telling people how clever you are. Mr. Dizzy did not understand the joke and the elephant explained it. Mr. Dizzy doesn't go around telling people how clever he is and the elephant wasn't surprised. The whole conversation left Mr. Dizzy even more confused then usual!
Mr. Dizzy was sad that he couldn't understand what the Clever Pig and Clever Elephant were doing. Soon, Mr. Dizzy reached a well deep in the woods. Mr. Dizzy had found this well before; but what he didn't know, is that this well was a wishing well and if you drink from it, the well grants you a wish. Mr. Dizzy kept thinking about the Clever Pig and Clever Elephant playing music and he soon got thirsty. Mr. Dizzy took a long drink from the well and wished that he could play music just like the Clever Pig and Clever Elephant.
Later that day, Mr. Dizzy came across the Clever Pig and Clever Elephant again. They were playing a piece of clever music with a worm who was playing the drums. Mr. Dizzy got back at the cocky Clever Pig and Clever Elephant by playing all three instruments at once! They had never seen anything like it before and couldn't even answer Mr. Dizzy's riddle to what he was. The answer: Mr. Dizzy is a one man band!!
