Overview[]
Mr. Forgetful's Holiday (Les vacances de monsieur Étourdi in French) is a story in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was first released in December 1997 and then in 2000.
Plot[]
Mr. Forgetful lives in a pretty house in the villa "Pense-Bête" and he has only one flaw: he forgets a lot of things. For example, how does he eat his breakfast? First, he toasts bread. But he forgets it in the toaster. Then he makes boiled eggs. But of course he forgets it in the stove. Then he heats milk, but he forgets it too and the milk overflows. Every morning he has a hard-boiled egg on burnt bread and coffee without milk. This morning he heard the doorbell ring and the postman brought him a letter. It was from Mr. Clever (he is waiting for it today at his house in Malin-sur-Mer for a wonderful holiday). Mr. Forgetful loves the sea and immediately prepares his suitcase. But... guess what he puts in it? A woolly hat, hiking boots, a parka, mittens and a parachute. What a scatterbrain he is! He quickly grabs his backpack, but of course it is empty. And of course he forgets to close the door and leaves the house.
An hour later, Mr. Forgetful arrives and greets Mr. Clever. He says it's a pleasure to meet him, that he left his suitcase at home, that he has everything he needs, and then he lets Mr. Clever take it from the cupboard and goes fishing at the seaside. When they go shrimping, Mr. Forgetful brings a tennis racket instead of a fishing rod! And when the two friends go golfing, he takes his boxing gloves. And when Mr. Clever asks him to go buy two ice creams and two balls, he repeats "two scoops of ice cream..." for fear that he may not remember anymore. Mr. Forgetful sighs and quickly brings the tank ball, then apologizes for why there were no more cups at the butcher's shop. In fact, he is easily distracted in general!
