Mr. Funny appears in Season 2 of The Mr. Men Show. He almost looks the same, but is a darker green and wears a bow tie. His hat is bent at the top, is a darker yellow and floats. His gloves and the daisy attached to his hat are gone. His nose is like Mr. Rude's, with the lines added to the bottom. The skits he is in are usually silent comedy sketches, similar to that of a mime and a clown. He is the only one to instead use sound language, in this case being honks or his horn. Sometimes he is annoying to Mr. Grumpy. He is first seen in Picnics.
Trivia[]
- First appearance: Picnics (US version only)
- "Picnics", "Airports", "Sun & Moon", and "Sand & Surf" had silent segments where Mr. Funny is the star with the lack of other characters besides Little Miss Giggles in "Picnics". "Machines" had one that had opening and closing dialogue by Mr. Grumpy. Each silent segment is accompanied by a rendition of the whistling theme from "Yard Work". The music is also used in Mishaps and Mayhem. These segments were made as an homage to the classic silent films of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
- Unlike other characters who wear sneakers, his shoes are dark red and they are slightly larger than the other characters' sneakers because he is actually a clown.
- Mr. Funny's lack of speech in The Mr. Men Show is due to writer Kate Boutilier thinking he'd clash with Mr. Scatterbrain had he spoke traditional dialogue. His horn honking is inspired by comedian Harpo Marx.[1]
- Despite being mute, he was shown shouting "surprise!" with all the other characters in Surprises.
- He along with Mr. Tall, Little Miss Bossy, and Little Miss Curious were never in the series' opening sequence nor the official website.
- He is one of the three characters in the series to wear some sort of tie, the others being Mr. Nosey and Mr. Fussy.
- The back of Mr. Funny's design was leaked a month prior to the second season's premiere in Dagan Moriarty's animation reel.
