(The episode starts in a wood surrounded by trees.)
Narrator: Poor Mr. Jelly was frightened of everything, and anything! at the slightest little thing, he would quiver, and tremble, and shake, turn to jelly.
(The camera shrinks to Mr. Jelly's house in the woods located in the woods.)
Narrator: It's not really surprising to find that Mr. Jelly lives as far away from anybody as he can. In the middle of a wood. Miles and miles from anywhere.
(The scene fades to Mr. Jelly sleeping in his bedroom.)
Mr. Jelly: (snoring)
Narrator: This story begins, one morning when Mr. Jelly was asleep. It was a beautiful autumn morning. The Sun was shining; the leaves on the trees had turned to a glorious red and the wind stirred gently in the treetops.
(The scene fades to a tree outside the house. One leaf falls from it.)
Narrator: A single leaf fell gently from the tree right outside Mr. Jelly's house.
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly's bedroom window.)
Narrator: And quietly brushed against it's bedroom window. As it fell.
(The scene cuts to Mr. Jelly waking up with a start.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly woke with a start!
Mr. Jelly: What! What the-? what's a terrible noise? Oh! Oh! oh heavens! No! No! No! The house is falling down! It's an earthquake, The end of world, (sticks out his tongue.)
(The camera zooms in on Mr. Jelly's face.)
Mr. Jelly: Bulululululululululululu!
(The scene fades to Mr. Jelly hiding under the bedclothes.)
Narrator: And he hid under the bedclothes, trembling with fright! After an hour, by which time he realized that his house wasn't falling down and that there wasn't an Earthquake, and the world wasn't coming to an end.
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly under his bedclothes realizing none of it happened and finally calms down.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly, peeped out, from under the bedclothes.
Mr. Jelly: Phew!
Narrator: He said.
Mr. Jelly: Oh thank go-Thank goodness for that!
(The scene cuts to Mr. Jelly sitting on the table having his cornflakes and a mug.)
Narrator: And he got up, and the went downstairs to make his breakfast.
(The scene cuts to Mr. Jelly going for a walk in the woods.)
Narrator: After breakfast, Mr. Jelly thought he'd go for a walk.
(Fades to Mr. Jelly continuing his walk.)
Narrator: He was walking through the woods which surround his house.
(Worm pokes out of his hole.)
Narrator: When a worm poked his head out of the ground.
(Cuts to the worm.)
Worm: Morning!
Narrator: Said the worm cheerfully to Mr. Jelly.
(Cuts back to Mr. Jelly getting startled and also starts panicking.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly nearly jumped out of his skin!
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly.)
Mr. Jelly: What, what?! Who's there?
(The scene cuts for the third time to Mr. Jelly as he jumps in fright.)
Narrator: Then he saw the worm.
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly.)
Mr. Jelly: Ooh! Ooh heavens! It's-it's-it's a snake! A snake! A! man-eating...man-eating snake oohewa, Oh I'm gonna be eaten alive! Ooolulul-huhu-lululululu.
(The scene cuts to the Worm looking up at Mr. Jelly on a tree.)
Narrator: He jumped into a tree.
(Cuts to the worm.)
Worm: What a performance!
Narrator: Commented the Worm.
(The worm goes back into it's hole.)
Narrator: And went back into his hole.
(The scene fades to Mr. Jelly continuing his walk after he calmed down until he goes through the long grass.)
Narrator: After an hour, Mr. Jelly felt brave enough to climb down from the tree and continue his walk. Eventually he came out of the other side side of the wood and into a field. It was empty field. Or was it?
(The camera zooms in and out respectively.)
Narrator: In the long grass in the middle of the field, unseen by Mr. Jelly, There was a Tramp, Enjoying asleep in the Autumn sunshine.
(The scene cuts to Mr. Jelly.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly picked his way cautiously through the grass. The Tramp, fast asleep, (fades to the Tramp sleeping) snored.
(Cuts back to Mr. Jelly feeling frightened.)
Mr. Jelly: Ooh, oh dear! what was that, what was that?
Narrator: Shrieked Mr. Jelly.
Mr. Jelly: It's a lion, I heard it growl! Ahoohoohooh, Goodness gracious, ooh dear me it's a lion huge lion with enormous teeth, heehoohoo it's a lion, with enormous sharp teeth it's gonna bite in two, a huge ferocious lion with enormous sharp teeth is gonna bite me two if not three, oohoohoooolululu!
Narrator: And then he fainted!
(Mr. Jelly faints with a thud.)
Narrator: All this commotion awakened the tramp, who yawned, stretched.
(Cuts to the Tramp.)
Narrator: Sat up, and saw Mr. Jelly lying on the ground beside him.
Tramp: Oh dear!
Narrator: He said.
Tramp: Oh dear me!
Narrator: He was a kindly tramp.
Tramp: Or deary me!
(The Tramp reveals Mr. Jelly in his palm.)
Narrator: And he picked up Mr. Jelly and placed him gently, in the palm of his hand.
(The scene fades to Mr. Jelly as he rubs his eyes with his hand.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly came too and sat up rubbing his eyes. And then he saw the Tramp's face looking at him.
Mr. Jelly: Ah aha huh ho disaster! Uho!
Narrator: He screamed.
Mr. Jelly: Oh calamity, it's a giant, an ogre! Ooh gracious is gonna have me for breakfast, uhuhuh-bulululululu.
(Cuts to the Tramp.)
Tramp: My my!
Narrator: Said the tramp gently.
Tramp: What a nervous little chap now aren't you! What's your name?
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly feeling very scared.)
Mr. Jelly: Its uh-uh Mr. J-J-J-Jelly, J-J-J-J-J-jelly jelly jelly jelly, Mr. Jelly!
Narrator: Stammered Mr. Jelly.
(Cut to the Tramp.)
Tramp: Now, I used to be nervous like you.
Narrator: Said the Tramp.
Tramp: But I learned how not to be. Would you like me to tell you the secret?
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly quivered and shook and said:
Mr. Jelly: (wobbly) Ye-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-ye-yeah, ple-please-plu, yes, yes please.
Tramp: It's very simple!
Narrator: Continued the Tramp.
Tramp: All you have to do, Is count, up to 10! And you'll find that whatever's frightened ya isn't quite so frightening after all.
(Cuts to the palm of the latter's hand and Mr. Jelly.)
Narrator: Then he sent Mr. Jelly gently down on the grass.
(Cuts to the Tramp.)
Tramp: Now remember:
Narrator: He said to Mr. Jelly.
Tramp: Count, to 10!
Narrator: And off he went.
(Camera zooms into black and out when Mr. Jelly is heading his way back home.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly thought that it would be a very good idea if he went home. Back across the field he went; back through the woods, he went.
(Fades to Mr. Jelly going home and suddenly steps on a twig.)
Narrator: He was walking through the woods when he stepped on a little twig. Snap! went the twig.
(Mr. Jelly steps on it, in which caused him jump high up and down again.)
Narrator: SNAP! went the twig. Mr. Jelly jumped twice his own height in terror.
Mr. Jelly: Wuhwawawawah, What, what, what's that.
Narrator: He shrieked.
Mr. Jelly: What, a terrible snapping noise, it's a tree falling down, it's going to crush me to pieces, oohuh~, It's a crocodile hiding in the bushes snapping his teeth, Ooh disaster, it ooh dear me ooh hoo a horrible....
Narrator: Then he stopped. (Mr. Jelly takes a deep breath and calms down.) Took a deep breath.
Mr. Jelly: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!
Narrator: He said. And he saw that had gone snap was a twig. a silly old twig.
Mr. Jelly: Phew!
Narrator: He said.
(Scene fades to Mr. Jelly almost getting home.)
Narrator: Mr. Jelly had almost reached his house when a leaf drifted gently down from a tree.
(Cuts to a leaf bouncing gently on Mr. Jelly's head, causing him to panic.)
Mr. Jelly: Help, help help! he-help police, murderer!
Narrator: He screamed.
Mr. Jelly: I'm being kidnapped. oh, it's rifles and guns are going to help everyone oohoolululuay...
Narrator: Then he stopped.
(Mr. Jelly takes a deep breath for the 2nd time.)
Narrator: He took a deep breath.
Mr. Jelly: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!
(Mr. Jelly's eyes look and down up in realization.)
Narrator: And then what he saw that what had fallen on him was only a leaf. Nothing but a leaf! A stupid, red, leaf!
Mr. Jelly: It works!
Narrator: He said out loud in wonderment.
(Cuts to Mr. Jelly's house and starts zooming in.)
Narrator: And you know, It did! He never shrieks, or shouts or screams, or quivers or shakes or trembles, anymore!
(Fades to Mr. Jelly sitting in his armchair with a lamp pictured Mr. Bump on it in house.)
Narrator: In fact, he's become quite...firm! and he never hides under the bedclothes.)
(The camera zooms to Mr. Jelly in his bed trembling.)
Narrator: Well, not very often, anyway!
Mr. Jelly: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!
(Mr. Jelly pokes his head out from under the bed clothes and smiles. The episode ends here.)
