Differences Between the Book Version & TV Version[]

  • Mr. Muddle and Little Miss Scatterbrain's phone call isn't shown.
  • Mr. Muddle sings a song about fish when he left his house. In the TV version, he struggles to remember what he needs for fishing and scares Walter the Worm upon mentioning it.
  • Mr. Muddle asks the fishmonger for worms in the book version. In the TV version, he asks Mrs. Crumb.
  • Mrs. Crumb doesn't appear.
  • Mr. Muddle doesn't ask anyone for a fishing rod
  • In the book, he asks Mr. Ticket for strawberries with ketchup (really meant a cheese and jam sandwich) when he catches the bus. In the episode, Mr. Muddle asks him for a cheese and pickle sandwich.
  • Little Miss Scatterbrain and Mr. Wrong aren't shown watching the ice skating competition. Instead, they just appear as contestants.
  • Mr. Muddle believed that the ice skating competition was a fishing competition, in the TV version, he just assumed that ice skating WAS fishing.
  • The book version gave a reason to why Mr. Muddle slept in his ice skates. It was because he believed that Little Miss Scatterbrain was going to take him fishing again.
  • The book features an extended ending where Little Miss Scatterbrain invites Mr. Muddle to either skydiving, driving, or dribbling the day after the ice skating competition. The conversation they had apparently got muddled up, leaving the reader to speculate what she really meant.
