Mr. Noisy's Quiet Day is a story from the 1980 Annual.
Plot[]
Mr. Noisy is a very noisy Mr. Man. His house wobbles from the noise he makes and all of Wobbletown, the town at the base of the hill Mr. Noisy lives on, wobbles from the noise as well. One morning, Mr. Noisy went into Wobbletown for some shopping. At the top of his voice, he shouted at the shopkeepers for what he needed: fish from Mrs. Cod, bananas and pears from Mr. Green, and two cream cakes from Mrs. Crumb. This left the people of Wobbletown shaking for the rest of the day!
Taking his shopping home, he sang all the way up the hill. By the time he got home and made himself a cup of tea, Mr. Noisy felt something he had never felt before...a tickle in his throat. He tried to clear it but it wouldn't go away and kept getting worse. Poor Mr. Noisy had a sore throat by bedtime and full-blown the next morning. The people of Wobbletown couldn't believe it! Because they were used to Mr. Noisy's banging, clumping, and thumping acting like an alarm clock to them, Mr. Noisy losing his voice made all of Wobbletown sleep in!
Mr. Green and Mrs. Crumb were very concerned for Mr. Noisy and went to see him. There, they learned that he had a sore throat and told him that he must remain quiet for the whole day! Mr. Noisy wasn't happy with this but he was much better the next day. But that's another story.
