(The episode begins with Mr. Topsy-Turvy walking to the left of the screen while looking towards the right. The screen has a white background)

Narrator: Mr. Topsy-Turvy was a funny sort of fellow.

(The camera zooms out and the background turns into a lovely nature setting with green hills and bushes. Mr. Topsy-Turvy continues walking down the path that appears at the bottom of the screen)

Narrator: Everything about him was either upside down, or inside out,

Bird (offscreen): (chirping)

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy starts walking to the right side of the screen despite his feet still pointing to the left)

Narrator: Or back to front, topsy-turvy, in fact!

Bird (offscreen): (chirping)

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy starts walking to the left side of the screen again)

Narrator: It was all very extraordinary!

Bird (offscreen): (chirping)

(The camera cuts to Mr. Topsy-Turvy's rather bizarre house)

Narrator: To give you some idea of how topsy-turvy Mr. Topsy-Turvy was, you ought to see his house.

(The camera zooms in on Mr. Topsy-Turvy's house)

Narrator: The front door is upside-down to start with.

(A close-up of some upside-down curtains is then shown)

Narrator: And the curtains hang upside-down at the windows!

(The next scene is the upside-down chimney pot, which zooms in as the narrator explains what it is)

Narrator (while giggling): And.. (chuckles) just look at that chimney pot! All very extraordinary! .

(The next scene is inside Mr. Topsy-Turvy's house with a close up of an upside down clock on the mantlepiece with the upside down fireplace roaring away as the camera zooms out)

Narrator: Inside is the same. Just look at that clock standing on Mr. Topsy-Turvy's mantlepiece! Isn't that the topsy-turviest clock you've ever seen?

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy is then seen in the next scene reading a book of what looks like Mr. Quiet, even though he wasn't created yet)

Narrator: And just look at the way Mr. Topsy-Turvy reads a book!

(The camera zooms out)

Narrator: Not only does he read it upside down, but...(he tries to stifle his giggles some more)...but he starts reading from the back page!

(The camera then pans right to a letter that says "Mr. Brown, High Street, Big Town, and zooms into it. Notice the stamp is put on the bottom left hand corner of the envelope)

Narrator: And just look where Mr. Topsy-Turvy puts the stamp when he wants to send a letter to somebody!

(The camera zooms in on the letter)

Narrator: Have you ever seen anything like it? (smacks his lips together)

(The next scene involves Mr. Topsy-Turvy riding in a train carriage to the big city)

Narrator: Now,

(The camera zooms out to show Mr. Topsy-Turvy sitting in the train carriage. The train is chugging to the left)

Narrator: This story is all about the time when Mr. Topsy-Turvy came to the town where you and I live.

(The train continues its way into the big city. The train chugs to the left of the screen. The camera zooms out to show the train chugging towards the town)

Narrator: Nobody's quite sure, how Mr. Topsy-Turvy got there. Or where he came from.

(The train chugs out of the frame)

Narrator: But he did arrive because,

(The camera zooms towards the town)

Narrator: Somebody saw him getting off the train.

(The next scene shows Mr. Topsy-Turvy at the railway station walking backwards and forwards)

Narrator: The trouble was, he did it in a topsy-turvy way! Which really isn't all that surprising, is it?

(The camera zooms in closer to Mr. Topsy-Turvy as he continues walking backwards and forwards. Soon, he walks to the right and out of the frame. Then, Mr. Topsy-Turvy is shown walking backwards and forwards down the street holding his suitcase upside-down)

Narrator: Mr. Topsy-Turvy went to a hotel,

(The scene transitions to Mr. Topsy-Turvy walking towards a hotel. Mr. Topsy-Turvy is shown walking backwards and forwards)

Narrator: To find a room to spend the night.

(The camera zooms in on Mr. Topsy-Turvy as he walks backwards and forwards to the right. The scene transitions to inside the hotel. Mr. Topsy-Turvy is walking to the right and the camera zooms out to show Mr. Topsy-Turvy fully in the frame)

Narrator: The hotel manager tried,

(The camera cuts to the hotel manager trying to hold back his smile)

Narrator: Not to smile when he saw Mr. Topsy-Turvy walk into his hotel carrying his suitcase,

(The camera zooms out to show the hotel manager and Mr. Topsy-Turvy in the same frame)

Narrator: Upside down,

(The camera zooms in towards Mr. Topsy-Turvy)

Narrator: And with his topsy-turvy hat on his head.

(The camera cuts over to the hotel manager)

Hotel Manager: Good afternoon, sir.

Narrator: He said.

Hotel Manager: Can I help you?

(The camera zooms out to show the hotel manager and Mr. Topsy-Turvy in the same frame)

Narrator: Now, something you didn't know about Mr. Topsy-Turvy is the way he speaks. You see, he sometimes gets things the wrong way round.

(The camera cuts over to Mr. Topsy-Turvy)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: Afternoon good!

Narrator: Said Mr. Topsy-Turvy to the hotel manager.

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: I'd uh....I'd room a like.

(The manager is shown scratching his head)

Narrator: The manager scratched his head.

Hotel Manager: Y...you mean you'd like a room?

Narrator: He asked.

(The camera zooms out to show Mr. Topsy-Turvy and the hotel manager in the same frame)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: Uh, please, yes!

Narrator: Replied Mr. Topsy-Turvy. Eventually the hotel manager managed to work out what Mr. Topsy-Turvy was talking about.

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy is then seen in the lift with the manager)

Narrator: And he was taken up a lift to a bedroom. (smacks his lips)

(The manager leans his hand on the wall of the lift for a few seconds)

Narrator: Then, Mr. Topsy-Turvy unpacked his suitcase,

(The manager stops leaning on the wall of the lift)

Narrator: Put on his pajamas,

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy is then seen in his bed sleeping heavily)

Narrator: And went to bed.

Mr. Topsy-Turvy (overlap): (snoring)

Narrator (overlap): He was rather tired after travelling from wherever he'd came from.

Mr. Topsy-Turvy (overlap): (snoring)

(The scene transitions to a wide shot of the city. Cars are heard honking their horns offscreen)

Narrator: The following day, Mr. Topsy-Turvy went around the town.

(The camera zooms in towards the town)

Narrator: But what a fuss his going round the town caused!

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy is shown riding in a taxi, sticking his arms out of the window while the driver drives on, trying to figure out where to go. Mr. Topsy-Turvy sticks his arm out of the left window first)

Narrator: He took a taxi from the hotel,

(The taxi driver drives closer to the viewers while Mr. Topsy-Turvy sticks his arm out of the right window, then the left window)

Narrator: But so confused the taxi driver,

(The taxi driver drives closer to the viewers while Mr. Topsy-Turvy sticks his arm out of the right window)

Narrator: Trying to tell him where he wanted to go,

(The taxi starts swerving)

Narrator: The poor man drove,

(The taxi driver drives into a traffic light, bending the pole in the process)

Narrator: Straight into a traffic light!

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: Oh dear!

Narrator: Said Mr. Topsy-Turvy.

(The driver looks at Mr. Topsy-Turvy with a serious look on his face)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy (offscreen): I am sorry very.

(The next scene fades into a shot of a big store, to which the camera zooms into it)

Narrator: Then, he went into a big department store in the middle of the town.

(The camera cuts to the counter of a store selling socks. A lady with blonde hair wearing a red dress is shown at the counter and puts her hands on it)

Narrator: He walked up to one of the counters.

(The camera cuts to Mr. Topsy-Turvy, holding his suitcase upside-down)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: I'd like a sock of pairs!

Narrator: He said to the lady behind the counter.

(The camera cuts back to the saleswoman)

Saleswoman: You mean a pair of socks!

Narrator: She smiled.

(The saleswoman takes out a pair of red socks)

Narrator: And showed him a pair of bright red socks.

(The camera cuts to Mr. Topsy-Turvy, wearing the socks on his hands, and the camera zooms out until Mr. Topsy-Turvy is fully in the frame)

Narrator: Mr. Topsy-Turvy put them on his hands!

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: (giggling)

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy, with the socks on his hands, jumps up and down with a big grin on his face)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy (overlap): (giggling)

Narrator (overlap): Then, he tried to leave. But being Mr. Topsy-Turvy

(The next scene shows Mr. Topsy-Turvy walking down an escalator that goes up. Mr. Topsy-Turvy is shown holding something in his right hand)

Narrator: He tried to go down the up escalator,

(The camera cuts to shoppers going up the up escalator. The camera zooms in towards the shoppers)

Narrator (overlap): And all the people,

Shoppers (overlap): (incoherent talking)

(The shoppers become surprised seeing Mr. Topsy-Turvy going down the up escalator. The camera continues zooming in on the shoppers)

Narrator: Going up the up escalator all,

(The shoppers who are shown going up the escalator begin to panic.)

Narrator: Fell over themselves!

(The shoppers slip up as the camera zooms in and spins around like a washing machine going into turbo cycle mode. The sounds of crashing is heard. The camera then stops spinning and cuts to a pile of shopping gifts. The camera zooms out from the boxes)

Narrator: Oh, it was a terrible,

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy emerges from a pile of gifts, blinking hard and clenching his teeth)

Narrator: Topsy-turvy jumble!

(There is a crashing sound heard in the background. A montage then begins showing all the topsy-turvy things Mr. Topsy-Turvy did that day. Starting with lying on a chair that's lying on the floor. Mr. Topsy-Turvy's hat is on his nose)

Narrator: That day, Mr. Topsy-Turvy,

(The montage continues with Mr. Topsy-Turvy holding an inverted umbrella in the rain)

Narrator: Did all sorts of topsy-turvy things.

(The montage continues with Mr. Topsy-Turvy opening an upside down door, an upside down tap with water coming out of it, and Mr. Topsy-Turvy roller skating on his hands)

Mr. Topsy-Turvy: (giggling)

(The montage continues to show Mr. Topsy-Turvy putting a paintbrush in the pot handle first, and walking backwards and forwards down the street)

Narrator: Then he went to an art gallery,

(The scene cuts to Mr. Topsy-Turvy looking at a piece of art)

Narrator: And insisted on hanging all the pictures,

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy turns the artwork upside-down)

Narrator: Upside-down so that he can look at him properly!

(The town is then shown again in another wide shot)

Narrator: And then, after Mr. Topsy-Turvy had been in the town for just ONE DAY...he disappeared!

(The camera zooms in towards the town)

Narrator: Nobody knew how he went, or where he went, but he certainly went because,

(The camera stops zooming in)

Narrator: He wasn't there anymore!

(The next scene shows the citizens in the town)

Narrator: The whole town breathed a sigh of relief.

Townsfolk: (sighs heavily)

(The townspeople become worried)

Narrator: But, what the town discovered...even though Mr. Topsy-Turvy had left, was that,

(The scene cuts to a newspaper seller selling newspapers. His stand with the word "NEWS" plastered on it is upside-down. The camera zooms out from the newspaper seller)

Narrator: Everything was still topsy-turvy!

(The camera stops zooming out and the newspaper seller starts shouting to the right, then to the left)

Newspaper Seller: READ ALL IT ABOUT!

Newspaper Seller (overlap): Late final! Late final!

Narrator (overlap): Shouted the newspaper sellers. Instead of shouting,

Newspaper Seller: READ ALL ABOUT IT!

(The next scene shows a TV set with a newscaster in a blue suit and red bow tie. The newscaster is shown sleeping before waking ip)

Newscaster: News is the here.

People (offscreen and overlap): (giggling)

Narrator (overlap): Said the television news reader.

(A man's arm comes in from the left side of the television showing the newscaster a card with the proper saying)

Narrator: Instead of saying,

Newscaster: Here is the news.

(The arm goes away. The scene cuts to a woman in green dress appearing on screen from the right side)

Woman in green: Morning good!

People (offscreen and overlap): (giggling)

Narrator (overlap): People started saying to each other when they met and....

(A man in a green suit, red undershirt, and brown hat is then shown raising his hat)

People (offscreen and overlap): (giggling)

Man wearing a hat (overlap): Do do you how?

(The man lowers his hat)

People (offscreen and overlap): (giggling)

Narrator (overlap): Instead of saying,

(The man raises his hat)

Man wearing a hat: How do you do?

(The citizens are then shown again speaking in a funny way)

Townsfolk (overlap): (talking incoherently)

Narrator (while laughing and overlap): Everybody was talking topsy-turvy!

Narrator & Townsfolk: Hahaha!

(Mr. Topsy-Turvy is then shown riding in a train carriage on his merry way home. The train is chugging to the right of the screen)

Narrator: Now can you think of something to say that...that's topsy-turvy?

(The camera zooms out to show the train chugging away from the town to the right of the screen)

Narrator: Try on, go! E-oh! I mean,

(The train chugs out of the frame)

Narrator: Go on! Try!

(The episode ends here)
