Snow White and the Mr. Men is a story from the 1980 Annual.
Plot[]
It was the holiday season in Happyland and Mr. Happy was shopping in Smiletown, which is the capital of Happyland. Everyone was happy, especially since it was almost Christmas. Everyone, that is, except the Mayor of Smiletown. The Mayor was upset because he wouldn't be able to put on the Christmas pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. All the dwarfs got sick and there isn't anyone to replace them. The Mayor of Smiletown doesn't want to upset the children of Happyland but doesn't know how to solve the problem.
Mr. Happy fetched the wizard and asked if he could help him get some of the Mr. Men to help out with the pantomime. This was no longer Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but instead, Snow White and the Mr. Men! The Seven Mr. Men to be precise! The wizard fetched Mr. Clumsy, Mr. Topsy-Turvy, Mr. Messy, Mr. Worry, Mr. Tall, Mr. Skinny, Mr. Small, Mr. Jelly, Mr. Fussy, Mr. Uppity, and Mr. Noisy. But that's eleven Mr. Men! The reason for the extra help was for other roles in the pantomime.
Mr. Worry took on the role as the director as it was fitting for him to worry about everything and directors have to worry about the play being perfect. Mr. Worry was just the Mr. Man to make sure the play goes right! Mr. Uppity offered to pay for everything needed in regards to costumes and scenery. Mr. Uppity might be rude, but even he can't resist the generosity at Christmas time. Mr. Worry then decided which of the Mr. Men should be the seven dwarves in the play. After worrying about it for a while, the Mr. Men taking on the roles were: Mr. Clumsy, Mr. Skinny, Mr. Fussy, Mr. Messy, Mr. Jelly (who needed a lot of persuading due to his stage fright), Mr. Noisy, and finally, Mr. Small. Mr. Worry then assigned Mr. Topsy-Turvy to play the narrator and Mr. Tall to play the Prince.
The wizard even took it upon himself to play the Wicked Queen by using some magic to turn himself into the character. As for Snow White herself, there was already a famous actress taking on the role and she was delighted to work with the Mr. Men. The whole pantomime went well apart from Mr. Topsy-Turvy's extraordinary storytelling due to him speaking back to front. Mr. Jelly was nearly in pieces and had to be carried out on the stage but everyone found that hysterical and it made the show even better. The actress was a fantastic Snow White and kissed all the Mr. Men playing the dwarfs. She even gave Mr. Small a special kiss on the nose that required her to pick Mr. Small up off the floor. How adorable! The wizard was a frightful Wicked Queen and Mr. Tall was great as the Prince. The pantomime was a smashing success!
And, to quote Mr. Topsy-Turvy, "and they all lived after ever!"
