The Egg and Spoon Race is a story from the 1993 Annual.
Plot[]
One hot Friday in Summer, it was the day of the Mr. Men and Little Misses Sports Day. Every Mr. Man and Little Miss in Misterland was there taking part in at least one event. Mr. Tall was ready to do the high jump, Mr. Rush ran in the running race, and Little Miss Tiny participated in the low jump. What could go wrong? Well, Mr. Muddle was in charge of the events that year and he had Mr. Dizzy firing the starting pistol that he couldn't even find. This led to the running race being muddled up with the three-legged race and the race itself being postponed. Mr. Greedy, fortunately, was there to help with the egg & spoon race. Even using hard boiled eggs to prevent a mess and reuse them in his lunch once the race ended. Little Miss Bossy was also there to make sure no one was caught continuing the race after their egg fell off their spoon. After saying the rules, and some muddled up talk from Mr. Topsy-Turvy, Mr. Noisy started the race by shouting "ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!!"
The eight participants in the race began to go across the track with Mr. Quiet getting eliminated before the race even started, courtesy of Mr. Noisy startling him when starting the race. Mr. Bump and Mr. Clumsy were the next eliminated when they bumped into each other and their eggs rolled off the track. Mr. Wrong was soon disqualified after by doing the race in the wrong direction and Little Miss Helpful forfeiting the competition to help him. At least she was selfless to put others before herself. The only ones left were Mr. Bounce, Little Miss Splendid, and Mr. Slow. Mr. Bounce's egg soon bounced off his spoon and landed on Little Miss Splendid's nose and caused her to trip and drop her egg! Mr. Slow was the last participant in the race but the rules stated that he had to finish the race in order to officially win. It took nine hours for Mr. Slow to cross the finish line and everyone already went home. Except Little Miss Late, who had just arrived to see Mr. Slow win!
