Overview[]
What's the Eldest? (C'est quoi, l'aîné ? in French) is a short story about questions and to understand why in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was released in May 1999, and then re-released in 2000.
Summary[]
Mr. Tall answers the titular question, saying "This is the child born first in a family. The eldest, or the tallest! The one born after is the middle child. The youngest is the youngest. If there are two children in the family, the first is the eldest and the second the youngest. If there are more, the second is the younger of the first, but the older of the third. The third is the younger of the second, but the older of the fourth. And so on! That's how life is: there are people taller than you, and others shorter!" while sympathizing with the reader.
