Overview[]
What Is an Only Child? (C'est quoi, un enfant unique ? in French) is a short story about questions and to understand why in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was released in May 1999, and then re-released in 2000.
Summary[]
Little Miss Star answers the titular question, saying "An only child is a child who has no siblings, no half-sisters, and no half-brothers. As soon as another child arrives in the family, they're no longer an only child! But they still remain so, if their mom and dad prefer to have only one child. Being an only child can get a little bored sometimes. Luckily, there are friends and cousins! On the other hand, you're the star! You have your mom and dad all to yourself! But there's no point in throwing a tantrum, right?" while sympathizing with the reader.
