Why Are There People We Prefer? (Pourquoi y a-t-il des gens qu'on préfère ? in French) is a short story about questions and to understand why in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.

It was released in either late May or the start of June 1999, and then re-released in 2000.

Summary[]

Mr. Cheerful answers the titular question, saying: "Have you noticed? There are some children who make you so happy! Just because they're there! You love them more than the others. You have more fun with them. You understand each other right away. And even when you argue, it's not a big deal. We don't really know why! We call it sympathy. The people you like best aren't nicer than the others. Besides, not everyone likes the same people. So much the better! That way, everyone has their own friends." while sympathizing with the reader.
