Why Do We Wear Glasses? (Pourquoi porte-t-on des lunettes ? in French) is a short story about keeping clean, healthy and well in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was released in March 1999, and then re-released in 2000.
Summary[]
Mr. Brave answers the titular question, saying "Glasses are made to correct eye defects. Some people only see well what is in front of their noses. They see what's far away as blurry. They're said to be nearsighted. Others don't see what's near well. Others think they see well, but in fact, their eyes aren't looking straight. The eye doctor, the ophthalmologist, can see this with his devices. If you're taken to him, be brave! He won't hurt you. And if he gives you exercises to do or tells you to wear glasses, it won't be to annoy you! But so that you can clearly see all the beautiful things around you." while sympathizing with the reader.
