Overview[]
Why Shouldn't You Climb on the Back of the Sofa? (Pourquoi ne faut-il pas grimper sur le dossier du canapé ? in French) is a short story about learning manners and how to live together in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series.
It was released in March 1999, and then re-released in 2000.
Summary[]
Mr. Topsy-Turvy answers the question in the title, saying "You sit on the back and put your feet on the armrests? My goodness! You're doing it all backwards! And where do you put your head, then? Under the sofa? Okay! I'll tell you again how it works. You sit on the sofa cushions, feet down. The backrest is there for you to lean against, for your back to rest on. The armrests are there for you to lean against, for your elbows to rest on. That way, you can rest comfortably. And so can everyone else! Because I remind you, a sofa is there for resting. Not for dancing! When you jump on it or climb on the back, the cushions get damaged. They're full of holes and dents! It's not comfortable at all." while sympathizing with the reader.
