Overview[]
Why is Easter a Holiday? (Pourquoi est-ce que Pâques est une fête ? in French) is a short story about discovering the world, curiosity and telling them what they are in the I Grow Up with the Mr. Men and Little Miss series, as part to celebrate Easter.
It was released in April 1999 as part to mark the celebration of Easter, and re-released in 2000.
Summary[]
Little Miss Brainy answers the question on why Easter is a holiday, saying "Easter is a Christian holiday. Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the representative of their god on Earth. Jesus lived in Palestine about 2,000 years ago. He said that people were equal and should love each other. Those in charge didn't like this, so they killed him. But then Jesus woke up, just long enough to say goodbye before ascending to heaven. Those who believed in him were very happy. Since then, Easter has been a joyful celebration. The Jews also have a celebration called Passover. It commemorates the moment when the Hebrews, led by Moses, left Egypt. It is also a joyful celebration because in Egypt, the Hebrews were slaves. They were leaving to be free." whilst empathizing with the reader.
